Celebrating Canberra’s outstanding nurses and midwives
Nurses and midwives across the ACT Health system have been recognised for their professionalism, innovation, and commitment to providing high quality, person centred healthcare.
Minister for Health Rachel Stephen-Smith congratulated the winners of the 2021 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards which celebrate and recognise the work our nurses and midwives do each day to contribute to the health and wellbeing of the Canberra community.
“More than 7,000 nurses and midwives in the ACT have been incredible in responding to the challenges of the past year, working to maintain services in a constantly evolving healthcare environment.

NURSES and midwives have been celebrated for their service to the Canberra community at the 2021 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards held last night (May 6).
Kirsty Cummin, a team leader at the Weston Creek Walk In Centre, was named
Nurse of the Year for her strong communication and listening skills.
After the outbreak of COVID-19 Kirsty extended her duties to the respiratory assessment clinic to assist with covid testing. She has also delivered care to those in hotel quarantine and oversaw staff delivering in the middle-hotel.
