Jerome Marcus, a lawyer who represented the Trump campaign in a lawsuit concerning what rules apply to partisan observers who watched the ballots being counted in Pennsylvania, filed a cryptic motion in federal court on Thursday indicating that Trump’s losing presidential campaign is engaged in criminal activity.
He later clarified that he wishes to break with the Trump campaign because he believes that Trump has used the lawsuits the campaign filed challenging various aspects of the 2020 election to “incite people to violence.” ....

Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. v. Philadelphia County Board of Elections (the case Porter Wright already withdrew from). But if his latest motion is granted, he won’t anymore.
That’s interesting enough, I guess. But on the day after an attempted coup, it really doesn’t pass muster after all, lots of attorneys are distancing themselves from election lawsuits like rats off a sinking ship. It’s Marcus’s reason for wanting out that really made us take notice:

A lawyer for President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is asking to withdraw from a Pennsylvania election lawsuit on the ground that “the client has used the lawyer’s services to perpetuate a crime.”
Lawyer Jerome Marcus sought to withdraw in a motion filed on Thursday, report the Legal Intelligencer and Politico.
Marcus explained in a statement to Politico that he wants to withdraw because of the assault on the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. ....

Jerome Marcus announced in a Thursday legal filing that he was withdrawing from his role, claiming he had been “used” by his “repugnant” client.
In the filing with the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Marcus said he was requesting to withdraw his representation, arguing it had “used” his “services to perpetrate a crime” and adding, “the client insists upon taking action that the lawyer considers repugnant and with which the lawyer has a fundamental disagreement.”
