The 30 year old first time candidate won less than 50 percent of the vote in the district. The race is now headed to a runoff against Republican Karen Handel that will be held in june. Democrats though say its still a victory and proves president trumps negative effect. Numbers overnight show karen handel had just under 20 percent of the vote. Ossoff had just over 48 percent.
