memo, basically i just asked people to bring a canned good as the price of admission, but if someone wanted to bring more than that, the person who brings the most cans tonight will win a free book. so we re going to take care of that a little bit later. just to give a brief overview of tonight, i m going to read a few passages from the book, jumping around here and there, and i ll kind of talk but. then we will take questions, and then we would do the book giveaway. so everyone should hopefully come up with some questions, get a good discussion going. i ve been working on this topic so long it s really nice to get out there and hear some things of what people are thinking about the topic and actually have a back and forth. so i m looking forward to that. so, i have been researching foodways for about five years, and at the very beginning in particular people were really enthusiastic about the topic. and i would talk to people and they would say what are you researching ....
