The partnership will help meet the increasing demand for Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF).

Boeing's Cargo Race with Costa Rica 737-800BCF MRO

MIAMI – Global cargo and e-commerce segments continue to promote high demand for production and converted freighters, and Boeing is at the ready.
The American airframer reported on May 5 it has reached an agreement with a Costa Rica-based maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider to increase the conversion rate for the 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF).
In Alajuela, Costa Rica, Boeing will open two 737-800BCF conversion lines with Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (COOPESA). The first of the new lines would open in early 2022, followed by the second later that year.
Besides, Boeing estimates that 1,500 freighter conversions will be needed over the next 20 years. 1,080 of those will be standard-body conversions, with North America and Latin America accounting for about a third of the whole market. ....

Boeing has tapped Costa Rican MRO Coopesa to launch Latin America’s first Boeing 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) production line.
The first of two new conversion lines will open at Coopesa’s Alajuela base in early 2022, followed by the second later in the year, says Boeing.

Boeing has decided to establish two 737-800BCF conversion lines in Latin America to meet the growing customer demand for narrowbody freighters. The new conversion center will be created with Costa Rican MRO provider Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (COOPESA) in Alajuela (San José International Airport), with a first conversion lines expected to open in early 2022 and the second anticipated later that year.

Boeing will open two 737-800BCF conversion lines with Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (Coopesa) in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The first of the new conversion lines is expected to open in early 2022, with the second anticipated later that year. Boeing forecasts 1,500 freighter conversions will be needed over the next 20 years to meet growing demand.
