Local News Briefs: Farmers market returns to courthouse lawn Staff Report Farmers market returning to courthouse lawn The farmers market will be availabl from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Wednesday, July 21, at the Guernsey County Courthouse. The market will continue through mid-October. East Eighth Street next to the courthouse will close at 4 p.m. each Wednesday for the market. City school board to meet The Cambridge City School Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m., on July 13. The location for this meeting will be the Garfield Administrative Center, 518 S. 8th St..  Meeting canceled The Wills Township meeting scheduled for July 12, has been canceled. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., July 26, at the township garage, located at 17629 Easton Road in Salesville.

Local News Briefs: Carpenter wins Franklin B. Walter Award Staff Report Carpenter wins Franklin B. Walter Award Laney Carpenter recently won the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for Guernsey County from the Ohio Educational Service Center Association. The Cambridge High School senior is the daughter of Aaron and Audra Carpenter of Cambridge. She plans to attend Marietta College and study accounting. The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established in 1989 by Ohio s County Superintendents to recognize student achievement and promote academic accomplishment. Only one senior from each of Ohio s eighty-eight counties is chosen to receive this honor each year. The recipients are the top scholars in their class.
