hello again, everyone, thank you so much for joining me, i m fredricka whitfield. at any moment, the cdc s vaccine advisers will announce their decision on covid-19 vaccines for children, 6 months to 5 years old. pfizer and moderna are seeking authorization for their vaccines. if approved young children could begin beginning vaccinated as soon as next week. are we hearing anything more about how close they re getting? reporter: they are getting closer. they have been taking questions for an hour, and it sounds like several more questions came up. they were supposed to vote a half hour ago but they re going to take as many questions and time as need be to get through everything. after two and a half years of all of us dealing with covid, this is the last sort of big piece, you know, the last tool in the tool box to get all americans covered by vaccines and hopefully sort of squelch this pandemic to something near an end. several questions that they have been centering on and
pfizer. moderna slightly different regimes. moderna is a two-shot sequence over several weeks. pfizer is a three-shot sequence over several weeks. this covers about 20 million americans or so. with understand they take that vote seemingly in the next 15, 20 minutes, they re going to start moving toward that vote. it will go to the cdc director who has to approve it. she is expected to do that and in cities like new york, already lining up, a lot of those doses are already going out. they expect to start putting them into arms next week. back to you. all right. miguel marquez. thank you so much. let s talk more about all of this. dr. jennifer shoe is with us, a pediatrician and edited the book bake and child health for the american academy of pediatrics. doctor, so good to see you. welcome. thank you so much for having me. all right. so let me get your reaction. are you anticipating that an approval will come today from the cdc? yeah, i have been listening to the webinar, the
together, but you can now get that booster shot and do it safely, fred. a lot more people getting together. still a little bit of anxiety out there, but glad that folks are able to get together safely. nadia romero, thank you so much. dr. jennifer shoe is a pediatrician, and the editor of baby and child health, good to see you, so yes, as of in the past couple of weeks, lots of kids are now vaccinated with one shot, but still many are not. what s your advice to families who might be traveling during this holiday period? so my advice is it s not too late to get the first shot in. over 2.6 million children from the ages of 5 to 11 have already gotten their first shot, so they re well on their way to being protected. if you want to travel safely, the best thing to do is to be fully vaccinated. if you re not fully vaccinated, it might be worthwhile to test one to three days prior to seeing your loved ones over the holidays. all right. at 2.6 million, that s

initiated despite 46 consumer complaints regarding foreign materials, black or dark specs found in medicine. dr. wolf is a critic of the industry. this isn t an isolated incident. this is the fourth recall in the past seven months. this is a company that sells billions of dollars of products. it s inexcusable that such a company would be so sloppy. the mcneil plant is shut down. federal officials continue to warn parents to stop using the drugs immediately of the not so easy says dr. jennifer shoe. many of my patients have gone through their medicine cabinets and checked the lot numbers, expiration dates to see if their medicines fall under the recall. a recall of this size is affecting every parent that i
