Water Main Breaks Force OKC Residents To Go Without Water For Hours

OKLAHOMA CITY -
Residents across the Oklahoma City metro woke up on Monday without water. Not because of frozen pipes but water main breaks.
Oklahoma City utility crews have been working all hours of the day in below freezing temperatures to repair the lines.
“It’s rolling,” said Jennifer McClintock of Oklahoma City s Utilities Department. “Once you get one fixed, another one may pop up.”
Oklahoma City utility officials said at one point crews were responding to 21 water main breaks. One near Northwest 50th and Portland Avenue happened in the overnight hours to unsuspecting residents.
“I attempted to get to work and realized our street was completely flooded,” said Jennifer Hopkins, an Oklahoma City resident. ....

OKLAHOMA CITY – A dangerous winter storm held Oklahoma in its icy grip Monday, shutting down businesses, prohibiting travel and depriving residents of basic needs like water and power.
By Monday afternoon, state officials were scrambling to support utilities running dangerously low on the fuel needed to keep residents warm and alive as temperatures plummeted below zero. Rolling blackouts designed to assure emergency power were affecting the region. ....

Water Service Restored To South OKC Residents

OKLAHOMA CITY -
UPDATE (10:37 p.m. February 14, 2021): The city of Oklahoma City said late Sunday night that water service has been restored to residents on the south side of OKC.
Some residents went without water after the source of their water, the Stanley Draper Treatment Plant, froze on Sunday afternoon.
The freezing of the treatment plant also caused other customers to experience low water pressure.
The water lines have been repaired. City officials said normal water pressure will follow soon after.
