the private sector added 71,000 jobs in july, substantially shy of the 90,000 analysts predicted and well below the 200,000 needed to chip away at the 9.5% unemployment rate. moreover, private sector hiring in june was revised downward from 83,000 to 31,000. in all, factoring steep government cut-backs the u.s. economy shed 131,000 jobs last month. for the president, there were some bright spots, but not enough. the fact is we ve added private sector jobs every month this year, instead of losing them as we did for the first seven months of last year. meanwhile, our manufacturering sector that s been hit hard for as long as folks can remember has actually added 183,000 jobs so far this year. the road to recovery doesn t follow a straight line. some sectors bounce back faster than others. house g.o.p. leader john boehner in a statement described the sputtering economy to the broken promises, out-of-control spending sprees and failing stimulus policies. this is hoard ....
