The budget, which was initially introduced by Interim City Manager Douglas Keen during a Feb. 26 City Council meeting, proposed the real estate tax rate remain at $1.26 per $100 of assessed value. Under this rate – factoring in rising assessments – the average tax bill is expected to increase by $266. Additionally, monthly utility bills will increase by about $7.70.
Manassas residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the city’s proposed fiscal 2025 budget – one that could raise homeowners’ taxes more than $200 in the coming year –during a public hearing April 22.
