3 smart-city groups across Arizona, Texas form multistate collaboration

Dive Brief:
Three regional smart cities cooperatives in Arizona and Texas will form a multi-state cooperative effort to advance funding models and policies to promote new technology and development.
The groups forming the new consortium are: the North Texas Innovation Alliance (NTXIA), a group of nearly 30 municipalities, agencies, corporations and schools across North Texas; The Connective, a public-private research and implementation partnership based in the Phoenix area; and the Southern Arizona Smart Region, a collective run by the Regional Partnering Center with nearly 30 public, private and academic members.

the coast so be watching for any special marine weather warnings or any other severe thunderstorm warnings for the bay area. that s what s so unusual about tonight. we know the rain, we get the wind but you don t often see strong thunderstorms happening overnight. that is precisely the scenario we re watching for you. we ll have all the details coming up in your full forecast in a few minutes. well, this morning s heavy downpours caused part of this roof of this good will storage facility in petaluma to cave in just before 11:00 a.m. fortunately no one was hurt. fire officials say clogged drains caused rainwater to build up on the roof and the weight of the water caused the collapse. while up there, they found other blocked storm drains, or roof drains. in those areas, they were able to clear the debris to let the roof drain properly to prevent further structural damage. officials are now assessing the damage and say other areas of the building are safe. the good ....

flaring up to our east and more off the coast. it s that intense line on the north coast that s going to drop away this evening which will lead to some strong thunder actually happening overnight, which is unusual for us here in the bay area. we ll talk more about the timing of this incoming storm in the full forecast coming up in a few minutes. tomorrow is opening day for the giants at at&t mark, but as rob just told us, there are going to be a few plaque clouds hanging over the games. the giants field crew was busy prepping the stadium for tomorrow s game. they re moving a little extra quickly because of the potential rain tonight. there are fears that rain could hamper tomorrow s festivities, but the team says it is full steam ahead. the backup plan is that we are going to be able to play the game at some point. it s undecided when that could be. but it s game on, as usual, for us. the giants have never had a home opener rained out since moving to san francisco ....
