The incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Bridge Street near Francis Avenue. The initial report came in as the shots were fired from a vehicle, police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon said. Responding officers found the woman mid-block with a non-life-threatening injury to her ankle, police said. No one else was injured, McCutcheon said. Schenectady firefighter paramedics tended to the woman and police could be seen looking for evidence.

The victim was struck and dragged, authorities said. She was also struck by a second vehicle, police said. The victim was identified as Carolyn Lord, 61, of Schenectady. The man charged was identified by police as Roddy T. Delagrandeanse, 23, of Broadway, Schenectady, a man whose license to drive had been suspended, authorities said. Delagrandeanse faces one count of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in death, a felony. He was charged Wednesday.
