SEVIERVILLE â Sarah Romine acknowledged sheâd shot another woman as soon as police detained her outside Soaky Mountain Waterpark Saturday, according to the incident report from that night. Romine, 31, of Knoxville, âstated multiple times that she was very sorry and that she had shot another female,â Officer Kyle Hager said in the incident report. Hager and other officers eventually concluded that Romine fatally shot 24-year-old Kelsey Cook, of Knoxville according to the report. Hager and two other officers were nearby at Wilderness Resort to investigate a theft call shortly after 8:15 p.m. Saturday, when they heard Wilderness security talking about an incident in the Soaky Mountain parking lot. ....

Now new legislation, backed by Texas senators who represent that area, would make voting absentee even more complex with SB 7. It s not the only change, either. Texans must send in an application for a mail-in ballot before receiving their actual ballot, which is then filled out. The information on the application must match the ballot itself. Currently, political parties and even election offices can send out the applications to eligible voters ahead of time. SB 7 would require voters to request the application and forbid that assistance. ....
