Severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday in southern Missouri, mainly after noon. If enough instability can be generated, we re looking at potentially strong wind gusts and large hail with these and can t rule out a tornado, said Jeff Raberding, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Springfield. Although that risk is fairly low, it s not zero. He said the atmosphere is very moist, and some parts of the Ozarks could see heavy rainfall today. You could see, locally, two to four inches. Right now, it looks like it would be, say, along I-44 and north of there, but, really, any of these storms that do develop will have the potential to put down some very heavy rainfall, said Raberding. And, if you do get storms tracking over the same area, that s when your flooding potential will increase. ....

Meteorologist Jeff Raberding says the main threat will be from strong winds, large hail, and flash flooding. “The threat is anytime really, I think, from late morning all the way through the early evening hours.
