cedar rapids city officials are breaking ground on new flood protection later today.? cbs 2 news reporter stephanie johnson is live liveright now with a preview.st? stephanie?kelly i m here on second avenue where mayor ron corbett and city manager jeff pomeranz will discuss the sinclair levee. ?the city s planned to build the levee since june 2015.the sinclair levee project will be the first permanent flood the levee will start at the african american museum and stretch all the way to tenth avenue where the alliant sub station is located. until the whole east side system is complete we will have a 40 year flood protection level but we are building it to the 2008 flood volume and when all that system is complete on the east side we ll be protected. we won t suffer what we occurred in 2008. 2008. the project will also include a four feet deep detention basin and a pump station.the levee will be 13 to seventeen feet high, costing twenty million dollars. ?tonight we ll have m
