Dark Star Orchestra to Perform in the lot at Soldier Field June 11 & 12, Approach 3000th Show

  The Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra formed in Chicago, Illinois and offered its first public show on November 11, 1997, has performed 2997 shows since that time. The band today announces the return to its Windy City birthplace roots by hosting a pair of shows in downtown Chicago at Soldier Field. On Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, DSO will perform a drive in concert on the South Parking lot of the legendary venue. Soldier Field tickets are available via local and artist presales Thursday at 10 AM CT and on sale to the general public Friday, April 30 at 10 AM CT. While the Chicago performance may fill the souls of fans within the Midwest, things get really interesting as the band heads to the West Coast for a trio of shows in Felton, CA at Roaring Camp May 7 - 9. The first night of these sold out performances will mark the band’s 3000th live performance together and some very special, inanimate guests join the celebration.

Vail seems to be sticking to Closing Day script

VAIL There have been no press releases from Vail Mountain regarding Closing Day this season, and that’s probably a good thing. A spokesperson from Vail Resorts said the regular Closing Day “five-gallon container” rule for backpacks (all packs must fit inside of one), will be in effect, and closing time is set for 4 p.m. “As is standard on Vail Mountain closing day, one daypack per person will be permitted,” said Vail and Beaver Creek Senior Communications Manager John Plack. “This has been a very safe and successful season, and we appreciate everyone focusing on safety up until closing time at 4 p.m. MST.”

Mattson said there was an officer from Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, two officers from the Eagle Police Department and four police officers from the Vail Police Department on hand to greet crowds and offer services. Local snowboarder Zach Varon said despite the large number of police and security on the mountain, he was glad to see party goers feel free to let loose in the usual Closing Day gathering spots at Beaver Creek. “I’m really glad I made it out here,” Varon said. “The terrain park was still in good shape and everyone was stoked to get together after missing out last year.”
