Former Houma narcotics commander pleads guilty to multiple charges A retired Houma Police narcotics commander received probation after pleading guilty to stealing money and tampering with public records, prosecutors said. Former Lt. Jeff Lirette, 47, was originally charged last year with 45 counts of injuring public records, 17 counts of forgery, malfeasance in office and theft between $5,000 to $25,000, State Police said. During a Dec. 14 court appearance, Lirette pleaded guilty to one count of malfeasance in office, one count of theft, 45 counts of injuring public records and 15 counts of forgery, records show. After Lirette entered his pleas, District Judge George Larke gave him a suspended two-year sentence over the prosecutor’s objections, records show. Lirette was ordered to serve 18 months of supervised probation and pay a $500 fine plus court costs. ....
