Downtown Hanford's first cannabis dispensary, HerbNJoy, opens | News


HANFORD — HerbNJoy, downtown Hanford’s first cannabis dispensary, held its soft opening with a visit from the city’s mayor and more than a few customers.
According to store owner Jeff Linden, they put in their application with the city to open their store in 2019. After 90 days of construction to get the 102 S. Douty St. building up to code, they were ready to go. Linden says the reception on their first day has been outstanding.
“The reception’s been great. We’ve had the mayor, we’ve had the chief of police, we’ve had the city manager, we’ve had a number of news sources,” he said. “So because we’re the first to open in Hanford from a storefront perspective, we’ve had a lot of interest today and I think we try to make an interesting store, so everybody’s come out to see it.” ....

Pistol, two rifles for Nimbin man's own protection, court told

A Nimbin man allegedly told police the unregistered firearms he owned were for his own protection , a court has heard.
Scott Campbell Grant, 59, appeared before Lismore Local Court on Thursday charged with a string of offences, including possessing prohibited drugs, possessing unregistered firearms and possessing ammunition.
Police will allege they found and seized the drugs and weapons during a raid on the man s home on Wednesday.
The court heard police allegedly found a pistol and two rifles under a double bunk bed during the search.
The court heard Mr Grant allegedly told police during the arrest now you have my guns how am I meant to protect myself . ....

'Wealthy' Lismore businessman accused of drug supply

An East Lismore businessman accused of supplying drugs has had his bail varied to state that if he breaches the conditions $50,000 will be forfeited to the courts.
Brett Anthony Robertson, 55, is charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
Police will allege Mr Robertson was supplying 5.415 litres worth of 4-hydroxybutanic acid and five grams of methylamphetamine when he was arrested at East Lismore on March 24, 2021.
He also allegedly dealt with proceeds of crime worth $20,050 and was in possession of three grams of cannabis and one gram of cocaine at the time of his arrest, according to court documents. ....
