A low rating from one Portage County supervisor cause the Nelsonville monitoring wells project s application for federal recovery funds to be rejected.
If you are concerned with gun control, etc., I would suggest bringing forth a separate resolution, County Board member Jeanne Dodge said. I don’t see a need to reaffirm my allegiance to the Constitution.
County Board member Vincent Miresse, who proposed the amended language, said the original resolution by Soik was meant to be a Trojan horse about opposing gun control measures and a roundabout way of trying to label people as unpatriotic. He asked Soik to be straightforward if he wanted to propose a resolution about the Second Amendment. Write and say what you mean, Miresse said.
Soik defended the resolution that he said was co-authored by some of those attending the meeting. He said the resolution wasn t just about gun rights even if many of the public comments supporting the measure focused on gun issues.
