Alfalit Liberia Certificates 310 Adult Learners in Basic Reading, Writing, Math Skills

A fraternal group, Alfalit-Liberia, has certificated 310 adult learners in basic reading, math, and writing skills. They received the certificates at the Christian Adult Literacy & Empowerment Program graduation ceremony held on April 14, 2021, at the Paynesville City Hall.
Under the theme, ‘From Darkness to Light’, students were tutored from Kindegarten to 3
rd grade level in Reading, Writing and Math for nine months.

MOA Announces National Agricultural Fair | Liberian Observer

Agriculture Minister Jeanine Milly Cooper addressing journalists yesterday on the importance of the fair in Congo Town, Monrovia, named Deputy Agriculture Minister for Administration, Precious Tetteh, to lead the coordination and planning of the Fair.
“Investing in Agriculture for Prosperity & Development is the theme for this year’s fair as agricultural development is an essential component in current five-year national development agenda, the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD),” Minister Cooper said.
She said that President George M. Weah places enormous importance on driving Liberia’s agriculture sector as a major engine for growth and as such, he will interact with farmers and stakeholders at the Fair to work out means of moving the sector forward.  ....

MONROVIA – The government of Liberia through the Ministry of Agriculture has provided grants to small agri-businesses in an effort to strengthen their capacities in contributing to building up the nation’s food security.
The grant is expected to boost their capacity to supply the local market.
Over the weekend, the Ministry of Agriculture handed checks ranging from US$500 to US$700 to agribusinesses who were selected after a vetting process. A total grant of US$295,751.00 was provided to 109 agribusinesses in the formal and informal sectors.  ....

More than 8,000 smallholder farmers in seven counties including Grand Bassa, Bong, Nimba, Margibi, Bomi, Cape Mount and Gbarpolu counties have begun receiving basic farming implement from the Government of Liberia (GOL) through the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) in order to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on farming communities, a press release from the MOA has disclosed.
According to the release, the exercise which began on Wednesday January 8 is expected to end on January 14. 2021. The items include Knap Sprayer, First Aid Kit, Fertilizer, Rain Boots, Pairs of Hand Gloves, Rain Coats and Rubber buckets among others. ....
