Oregon Ducks’ top walk-on ILB Nick Wiebe entering transfer portal
Updated Jan 31, 2021;
A native of Calgary, Wiebe had eight tackles in three games this season, including six in the Fiesta Bowl when he took over for weak-side linebacker Isaac Slade-Matautia after he was disqualified for targeting.
Prior to the bowl game, Oregon coach Mario Cristobal complimented Wiebe’s play.
“Growth in every way possible from a football player and mentally in terms of his assignments, alignments, the way he plays the game physically,” Cristobal said last month. “His ability to tackle and make plays. It certainly showed up when we were up and playing in Berkeley earlier this year. And just a very dependable, accountable guy. Also playing special teams for us.”

Waters, who redshirted in 2019 due to a preseason foot injury that required surgery, moved to cornerback last season due to lack of depth at the position. The Oxnard, California, native had one tackle in two games in 2020.
