WEC Energy Group reports solid first-quarter results

MILWAUKEE, May 3, 2021 /PRNewswire/ WEC Energy Group (NYSE: WEC) today reported net income of $510.1 million, or $1.61 per share, for the first quarter of 2021 – up from $452.5 million, or $1.43 per share, for last year s first quarter.
Consolidated revenues totaled $2.7 billion, up $582.8 million from last year s first quarter.
Our positive first-quarter results were driven by colder weather, economic recovery in our region and a strong focus on operating excellence, said Gale Klappa, executive chairman. Our people and our infrastructure were put to the test and performed remarkably during a bitter cold stretch in February, when temperatures in the northern portion of our service area dropped to minus 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Ongoing investments in our energy grid and our diverse fuel mix kept the economy moving and our 4.6 million customers warm and safe. ....

BOURBON / CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. – WEC Energy Group acquires a 90% ownership interest in the Jayhawk Wind Farm, to be built in Bourbon and Crawford counties, Kansas. Jayhawk will generate renewable energy that will be sold under long-term contract to Facebook, to help support the tech company’s operations in the region.

Apex Clean Energy today announced that WEC Energy Group (NYSE: WEC) and Invenergy purchased the Jayhawk Wind project, including a renewable power purchase agreement with Facebook. The more than 190 MW project, located in Crawford and Bourbon Counties, Kansas, will help support the tech company’s operations in the region. ....

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., March 02, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, Inc. (NASDAQ:IEA) ( IEA or the Company ), a leading infrastructure construction company with specialized energy and heavy civil expertise, today announced that the Company has been awarded the Jayhawk Wind Farm contract valued at approximately $70 million. Apex Clean Energy, which develops, constructs, and operates utility-scale wind and solar power facilities across North America, awarded this project to IEA Constructors, a subsidiary of IEA that manages utility-scale renewable energy and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
The award is for the construction of a utility-scale wind farm in Bourbon and Crawford counties in Southeast Kansas with capacity to inject 190 megawatts (MW) of electricity into the regional grid. Work on the Jayhawk Wind Farm began in February and is expected to be completed in late 2021. Apex will manage construction of the project, and IEA will ....
