CHENNAI: Passengers who board or get off express trains at Tiruvallur railway station face a hassle as platform 1 is dug up as part of the ongoing red.
The railways has built a new foot overbridge (FOB) to replace a level crossing at Putlur railway station on Chennai-Tiruvallur route. However, railways did not think about a lift. People, especially senior citizens, continue to cross the tracks, often hopping over a new fence built to close the level crossing. This has put people at risk as the suburban station is on the route where trains run at 130kmph.
