(WFIE) - The junior duo of Shamar Givance and Jawaun Newton combined to score 33 points in a hard-fought 69-58 defeat at Loyola on Sunday afternoon inside Gentile Arena. Givance recorded 17 points while going 5-for-5 from the line while Newton knocked down 8 out of 11 attempts to finish with 16.  Noah Frederking connected on four of his five outside tries to finish with 14 for the Purple Aces (8-10, 6-6 MVC).  Loyola (17-3, 12-1 MVC) had four players finish in double figures, led by Braden Norris, who led all players with 19 points.  Cameron Krutwig finished with another double-double, posting 14 points and 11 boards.

(WFIE) - Four University of Evansville men’s basketball players reached double figures in an exciting comeback that saw the Purple Aces overcome a 16-point first half deficit to defeat Valparaiso by a final of 58-51 on Monday night at the Ford Center. A 19-4 stretch in the first half saw Valparaiso (6-11, 3-5 MVC) open up a 28-12 lead. Evansville (8-8, 6-4 MVC) was able to cut that deficit to nine points at halftime before holding the Crusaders to just 18 second-half points on the way to a 7-point win. Jawaun Newton and Shamar Givance scored 12 points apiece. Newton was an efficient 6-for-8 from the field while Givance was credited with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. (WFIE) - Jawaun Newton and Gage Bobe recorded career scoring highs but their efforts were not enough to overcome a red-hot Bradley squad, who shot 61.4% and held off the University of Evansville men’s basketball team by a final of 69-60 on Saturday afternoon inside Carver Arena. Just seven days ago, Newton matched his career scoring tally with 19 against Illinois State and bettered that mark by three today. He knocked down 9 of his 14 field goal attempts and went 4-for-6 from 3-point range for the Purple Aces (6-7, 4-3 MVC). Playing his top total of 26 minutes, Gage Bobe hit three triples on his way to nine points, which tied his 9-point effort against UT Martin in December.
