The writer of the Gospel of John gives himself an odd nickname: “The Disciple Whom Jesus Loved.” In other translations, John refers to himself as the “Beloved Disciple.” We don’t know the real meaning behind the name because John provides no explanation of it. But perhaps John uses this name as a reminder to himself and others of Jesus’ loving ministry here on earth and the disciples’ call to spread the message of that love to every nation.

"But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.." At its core, praying in the Spirit means to pray with the mind of the Spirit. When we pray this way, we are praying according to the will of God.
<p>For something to be divinely inspired means it originated from our holy, Almighty God. Inspired by God means infinitely more than saying “I was inspired to send you a note.” For God to inspire Scripture means <em>He</em> superintended the writing of it. Everything written by the 40+ authors is in effect written by God Himself.</p>
<p>The seven “I Am” statements all appear in the Gospel of John. In each, Jesus proclaims His essence. Each signifies a different aspect of His divine nature, and many of them appear to be tied to a miracle or important teaching moment that had just been offered, perhaps as illumination.</p>
