Nagaland Police launches three mobile FSL vans- May 1

KOHIMA In a first and a major boost to modernisation of the state Police department, Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma on Monday launched three mobile forensic science laboratory (FSL) vans at the Nagaland Police headquarters in Kohima. Addressing the launching event, attended by the senior police officers and staff, the DGP said Nagaland Police is enhancing its forensic capabilities and that the forensic laboratory in Dimapur, which is functioning, will be replenished with forensic kits. Sharma said that though the Police department has budgetary constraints, yet it is making efforts to collect data from central investigation units to enhance forensic capabilities, while noting that quality of investigation depends on quality of forensic evidence collected. Pointing out that the department will have to put in more efforts, the police chief expressed optimism that both the Government of India and Government of Nagaland will extend help and guidance to the Police departmen

Dimapur Police bids farewell to outgoing officers

Our ReporterDimapur, Nov. 14(EMN): Dimapur Police Commissionerate bade farewell to the commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo, and other outgoing officers — T Yarenthung Ngullie, ADCP CMD, Bharat Laxman Markad, DCP (crime), Naieem Mustafa, DCP Dimapur, and Jatila Jamir, DGP Traffic — on Monday, at Conference Hall, Officer of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur. During the farewell programme, CP expressed gratitude to his subordinates officers and staff, stating that during his tenure, ‘whatever little they have achieved is due to the cooperation and coordination’ of all the officers and staff. He also asked the media to protect the positive things in the society and state. He also thanked the NGOs, administration and paramilitary force for their contribution and help especially during COVID-19. Hit-and-run case: Five killed, driver caught while trying to flee

Our Reporter Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): At least five persons were killed and three seriously injured when a truck hit a regional taxi (Ecco van) on the national highway at New Chumoukedima (Kukidolong area) near Jharnapani on Saturday. The incident happened at around 10 am when the Kohima-bound regional taxi was hit by a truck, which was coming down from Imphal. The truck driver fled from the scene before the police arrived. DCP Traffic Dimapur, Jatila Jamir, told Eastern Mirror that three persons (all male) died on the spot and two persons, also male, succumbed to their injuries at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) in Dimapur. Three other persons (all male), including the driver, are further undergoing treatment at CIHSR. The driver and the truck are under police custody, she informed.
