The East West Players presents the rolling world premiere of Interstate, an Asian-American pop-rock poetry musical (opened last week). Jesca Prudencio directs the cast of Jupiter Lê, Kristian Espiritu, Jaya Joshi, Michelle Noh, Reuben Uy, Stefan Miller, Natalie Holt MacDonald and Krystle Simmons.
Jesca took some time between her two productions to answer a few of my queries.

Last summer, Katie Turner was trying to find a way to engage her theater students at San Diego State University during a time when live performances were impossible. The result was the summerlong development of a unique audio drama that just become available to the public this month.
“Homecoming: A Meditation on the Natural World” is the first production of Turner’s just-launched Turnkey Theatre. The company name is a play on Turner’s surname as well as a reference to how audience members purchase a “turnkey theater experience” when they buy a ticket. Each play will come with a shipped box of objects, small props, tools or clues that must be used while listening to the play.
