Asian American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities have a rich heritage thousands of years old and have both shaped the history of the United States and had their lives dramatically influenced by moments in its history. Through historic preservation efforts like the $3,155,000 in Japanese American Confinement Site Grants awarded today, the National Park Service (NPS) is working to ensure these places and stories are accessible and present in today’s society.
