With the acquisition of a controlling stake in Siltronic AG, the Taiwanese company is set to become the world s second-largest silicon wafer supplier. Last month, GlobalWafers secured more than 50 percent of Siltronic shares with an offer of 4.35 billion euros (US$5.2 billion) in a public tender that was due to end on Feb. 10, but the acceptance period was extended to March 1. ....
