A Japanese lower house lawmaker is indicted for receiving bribes from a wind power firm in exchange for exercising his influence in favor of the company, prosecutors say.
Tokyo prosecutors arrest lower house member and former parliamentary vice foreign minister Masatoshi Akimoto on suspicion of receiving 61 million yen ($410,000) in bribes from a wind power company.
The Tokyo District Court decides to grant bail to a former Tokyo Olympic executive indicted four times on charges of receiving bribes in connection to the games, with the amount set at 80 million yen ($603,000).
