an explosion sent neighbors running outside and sparked fires. marianne favro what does it look like out there right now? reporter: you can see behind me that this home is a total loss. this fire started just before 6:00 tonight and neighbors say it sounded like big explosions going off after several propane tanks exploded. flames ripping through this home in east san jose destroying it. neighbors say it sounded like several bombs going off. it was a little scary, to say the least. firefighters say there were as many as 20 explosions. friends of the homeowners say there are several propane tanks at the house likely caused the explosions. foyer fighters say winds whipped up embers sending them towards neighboring homes. . [ inaudible ] firefighters were on a medical call nearby when they saw the flames and quickly headed to the home even before neighbors could call 911. a fast response that may very well have protected other homes in the area. friends of the hom
one. two men in a white or silver van pulled up, grabbed a young woman and pulled her into the van and sexually assaulted her. police say this is what the two men look like. they are described as hispanic men in their 30s. after attacking the girl the suspects dropped her off just a few blocks from where she was abducted. residents say while they have heard of some crimes in the area they were shocked to hear about the sexual assault. it s a pretty good neighborhood but it has its pockets. honestly it is not the first time i hear of crimes in the neighborhood. reporter: this is a very busy intersection and you can see that westgate mall is right behind me. there is a big target here. across the street there is another mall and the big intersection of saratoga avenue. investigators are really hoping that someone saw something around 4:00 in the afternoon last tuesday. if you saw something please contact police. remember you can give details without giving your name. you ca
from the president s remarks today on the crash of malaysian flight 17 is that the white house now believes at least one american was on board. that american has been identified as quinn lucas shantsman. he was also a dutch citizen and a facebook page for a man with the same name listed he was a student at a business school in amsterdam, although the school has not confirmed that. we are also told chanceman, at one point, may have had family working in san mateo. it was just about 24 hours ago that malaysia airlines flight 17 was apparently shot down by a ground-to-air missile, who the president said came from an area of eastern ukraine controlled by pro-russian separatists. 298 people on board were killed. and while the president stopped short of say direct that pro-russian separatists were the ones to take the plane down, he did call for an immediate cease-fire in that area. this was a global tragedy. an asian airliner was destroyed in european skies filled with citizens
