Feb 20, 2021 MIDLAND, MI – Robert Francis Dennett, 88, of Midland, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2021, after a short illness at MidMichigan Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Harold and Louise (Gaviglio) Dennett on March 2, 1932, in Marquette, MI. His mother, Louise, passed away unexpectedly when he was eleven, and his father then married Marie Reichel in 1947, who was a wonderful grandmother to Robert’s children. He graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in 1950. He then attended Northern Michigan University for one year before transferring to Michigan Technological University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1954. After graduation he was accepted into the United States Navy Officer Candidate School and served as a Lieutenant for two years in the Navy and several years in the Naval Reserves. After his service in the Navy, he worked for Dupont in New York for one year before being employed ....
Johanna Jainchill Cruise ship fans often say it is the crew that make the cruise experience and keep passengers coming back, year after year, to the same lines and ships. One couple, Steve and Janet Randall, and many of their fellow Silversea Venetian Society members, put their money where their mouths are. The Randalls, who have accumulated 1,670 sailing days with Silversea, established a fundraiser last month to benefit the line s crewmembers while the global cruise ship fleet is grounded. It has so far raised almost $100,000. More than 350 donors have contributed to the GoFundMe campaign, which launched Dec. 21 with the goal to raise $75,000. The Randalls have since upped the fundraising goal to $125,000, to which Silversea will add an additional $70,000. ....
