The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen approved a street-improvement bid during its meeting on Thursday, May 13.
According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, City Clerk Michelle Fuehring told aldermen the city had received one bid for the street-improvement project. Mayor Franny Vaught opened the bid from Vance Brothers in the amount of $125,141.55.
Mayor Vaught asked Public Works Superintendent Nate Lea why the bid was so high. Lea explained the city did not do as many of the roads last year due to COVID-19. He explained that with this bid, all the roads in town will be coated for the first time. Aldermen approved the bid. ....
