SHERIDAN – Two people were killed and one person injured after being shot allegedly by a Sandwich man on Tuesday. According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s department, on Tuesday night just before 10 p.m., Sheridan and Sandwich Police were called to the 800 block of West Church Street for an attempted break-in of the residence. The caller stated the windows of the residence had allegedly been shot out. The victim, 37-year-old Janelle Johnson, who was injured from glass fragments as a result of the gunshots, stated to authorities she believed the suspect was her ex-husband. The subject allegedly fled the area, but a black Cadillac parked in the victim’s driveway was found by police upon arrival to the scene. The Washington Iowa Betterment Foundation won’t be hosting their annual pub crawl fundraiser this month, but instead they’re holding a fundraiser for those that are drinking age to host their own St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Foundation treasurer Janelle Johnson tells KCII about its Baskets of Betterment raffle fundraiser, “So we have five baskets and the baskets include three bottles of alcohol variety and then a $75 gift certificate to one of the establishments we use on our pub crawl, so Lebowski’s, Unc & Neph’s, JP’s [207], the Wagon Wheel, and Washington Golf and Country Club.”
Raffle tickets are $10 each, and the proceeds go towards the organization’s efforts to financially support projects that physically improve, beautify, and enhance the city of Washington. Tickets can be purchased from any foundation board member, or by finding their Venmo information posted on their Facebook page. The drawing will be held on March 17th with a ticket purchase deadline
