Haven t really seen developing yet for a number of good reasons. but that part is very important in order to support ukraine in the kind of bargain that it may ultimately want to strike. scott, a grim bargain, as jane says. what could a new cold war look like? well, there could be a bargain that the ukraine will decide and agree that it will not join nato in the future, that there could be a pullback of military forces, but i fear that the grim possibility is that this war will continue on, and that as the body bags build up in moscow, that there will be enough people in the streets, sufficient oligarchs who say enough is enough. and hopefully people inside the government. there is a glimmer of hope here in the history in that in 1963, ....

That the ukrainians would welcome them with open arms. those are delusions. and putin clearly holds some of them personally. when you have nuclear weapons, it s particularly dangerous to have them in the hands of a leader like that. we can only hope that if he doubles down and makes a decision that he might use nuclear weapons that those around him finally will say sir, that is enough. that is extremely dangerous, or that if he actually orders one, that the russian military will refuse, to say that is an illegal order and we will not use a nuclear weapon against a ukrainian city. that is not a certainty. that is not an expectation, but it is a hope that the russian military will follow what is in its personal interests and with what is in the interest of the world, and not use nuclear weapons in this conflict. jane, earlier in the show we were talking with peter baker of ....
