Loris City Council will be back at full-strength after political newcomer Kelli Gerald won a runoff election on Tuesday, April 9 to fill a vacant seat on the six-member council. Gerald defeated former Council Member Jan Vescovi 236-154, according to results tallied by the Horry County Voter Registration and Elections Office.

It’s March Madness Loris-style, with a special city council election held Tuesday, March 26 headed for overtime. A runoff election will be necessary on Tuesday, April 9 to determine if Kelli Gerald or Jan Vescovi will fill a vacant seat on the council.
Loris City Council voted Monday, Dec. 4 to lay the groundwork for the possible sale of the city’s water and sewer system to the Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority. Council ordered that spreadsheets be prepared showing the finances for the system, so citizens can decide if the city should retain the water and wastewater systems, or sell.
Loris residents will have a chance to provide input on the city s future at a workshop set for Nov. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building on Walnut Street. The city is updating its long-range Comprehense Plan and its Downtown Master Plan.
