Representational image JAMSHEDPUR: Lying defunct for a few months, Medica Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MKGMH) at Jamshedpur’s Bistupur was converted into an 80-bed Covid-designated hospital equipped with oxygen by the East Singhbhum administration to increase the number of beds in the district. The facility was reopened on Tuesday and currently, the district has 500 Covid beds. State health minister Banna Gupta, who had visited the hospital to take stock of the preparedness earlier in the day, said the district administration is now aiming to expand the capacity to 100 beds soon. The hospital was made functional with 14 doctors, 12 ANMs and 40 plus paramedics and health and sanitation workers. “The staff strength will soon be increased and the facility will have more doctors and auxiliary nurses,” Gupta said. The health department is making efforts to ready 10 ventilator beds in the hospital. ....
