Celebrity hairstylist Sam McKnight remembers his favourite Christmas holiday getaway For me, Christmas lasts a whole month. It starts with the decoration of my Christmas tree at my house in North London in early December. I have an eclectic bunch of decorations, which I have found in boutiques such as John Derian in New York, Astier De Villatte in Paris and even Paperchase and garden centres in the UK. The weirder and gaudier the better - I’ve got little plastic hamburgers, Chanel handbags and a record player.  My tree, I’m embarrassed to say, is a very good fake tree that looks real. I always burn a Diptyque pine candle in the room to add the conifer smell. I hang a beautiful wreath on my front door, made by my friends at Jam Jar Flowers, and I hang lights through the trees and arches in my garden, which stay up all year round, and look so cosy and lovely at night.
