LISBON With about 400 doses of coronavirus vaccines available, the Columbiana County General Health District is ready for their first drive-up vaccination clinic at the county fairgrounds in Lisbon on Friday.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the vaccine given on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no pre-registration, but Health Commissioner Wes Vins said it is important for people to remember if they are not 80 years old or older, they will not be vaccinated at the clinic on Friday. ....

LISBON The Columbiana County COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force announced the completion of the new Columbiana County Vaccination Complex at the fairgrounds, built in less than four months and just in time to begin the next phase of vaccinations, those 80 and older.
The building, which was built using CARES Act money with additional funding from the county’s general fund, was touted as the ideal place for those to come who do not have the physical ability to walk into another location. Additionally, it will be the only location in Columbiana County not to require preregistration. ....

LISBON The county health department is expecting to have its first shipment of vaccines, possibly before Christmas.
The hope those vaccines represent cannot come any too soon. During Tuesday’s board of health meeting, Jamie Elenz, medical services administrator, reported while the number of new cases has slowed since they spiked around Thanksgiving, the tracers are considering it a lull. Cases are again expected to rise following the Christmas holiday.
She reported there have now been 5,220 cases in Columbiana County and 116 deaths, five since last Friday. The 5,220 number is an increase of 320 positives since Dec. 11, about 53 new cases a day and down from the 97 cases a day average between Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. ....
