Festival Of Colour Announces 2021 Programme

The
Festival of Colour arts and ideas festival today revealed a
packed week-long programme featuring an exciting mix of
theatre, dance, music, visual arts and conversation to take
place in April in Wānaka.
Known as ‘the best little
arts festival in New Zealand’, the Festival of Colour
takes place from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 April.
It will
be the ninth festival, and director Philip Tremewan says the
2021 festival will bring heart, soul and creative joy to the
town and surrounding area.

A $1m scheme to get gangsters off meth collapsed amid internal dissent over treatment methods, staff turnover and concerns that few people were being helped. Tony Wall reports.
In February 2018, Florence Leota, a senior advisor in the Ministry of Health s addictions treatment team, emailed her boss, group manager for addiction Richard Taylor, over concerns about a programme to get predominantly Black Power gang members off methamphetamine.
The programme, called Wakatika Ora, was being run by the Consultancy Advocacy and Research Trust (CART) – a social action group with a long history of working with gang communities, using a $920,000 grant from money seized under proceeds of crime legislation. ....

Denis Glover s place in New Zealand literature is assured. Along with R.A.K. Mason, A.R.D. Fairburn and Allen Curnow, he was one of those who revitalised New Zealand poetry in the 1930s. The Magpies still takes
the prize as New Zealand s most-often-reprinted poem. In founding the Caxton Press, Glover turned this country s publishing industry in a new direction, making it possible for poetry and fiction of high quality to reach a wider readership.
