Alicia Jones April 12, 2021 Concerning Mr. James VanSciver’s letter: I did not notice your presence or voice at Cape Minority Liaisn Committee when changing the Cape District’s approach to hiring minority teachers more representative of the community, or including books with Black authors, including Bryan Stevenson’s young adult version of “Just Mercy” or examining the disciplinary discrepancies between whites and Black students for similar offenses which resulted in an overhaul of the Code of Conduct. I sit on the Governor’s DREJ Wealth Creation and Education forums but did not run across your name there either. I frequently attend the two remaining Black churches in Lewes on Sunday, the most segregated day of the week, and do not remember seeing you either in the pews or hearing your birthday or anniversary announcements.
