messaging here. a very tough message against china, trying to tell them that the u.s. would come to the defense of taiwan. still, pretty unusual to see an army secretary go into that kind of military operational detail. yeah, and a walk back to the walkback we saw following president biden s comments on military involvement. barbara starr, thanks so much. sure. this morning, president biden has announced the u.s. will send another $700 million worth of weapons and defense systems to the ukraine. the op-ed says america wants to see a democratic prosperous ukraine with the means to deter and defend itself against further aggression. among newly provided weaponry is the multiple launch rocket system, a system. first reported the inclusion of that in this weapons package. i m joined by retired major
general james spider marx. first, as you heard barbara there, the army secretary saying the u.s. would strike chinese military targets in the event of a chinese invasion. has the u.s. now made clear it would go to war with china if it were to invade? well, i think the president removed the veil, didn t he? he eliminated the strategic ambiguity since the relationship of 1979 and we begin selling and cooperating with the taiwanese. one of three things have to happen. one, the united states continues to sell the most modern to the taiwanese so the u.s. is present for that eventually. two, the u.s. is already there, indicators to get there quickly as possible and get engaged. now, that s a deliberate and distinct difference on the position with u.s. and ukraine. the president reiterated in this

frantic and chaotic exit that we have seen over the last couple of weeks that this administration is still trying to find an answer for. they do point to more than 120,000 people afghan partners and americans alike leaving hafgs afghanistan safely. that s something he will be pointing to. the big burning question, the urgent question, how the u.s. plans to get out the 100 to 200 american citizens still on the ground in afghanistan. this is not a military mission. it s a diplomatic one. finally, how he plans to keep eyes on lafghanistan, if you will, to protect the homeland from another terror strike. jeff, thank you. we re joined now by retired army major general james spider
