Starbucks exec Rosalind Brewer to take over as Walgreens CEO

Walgreens Boots Alliance late Tuesday announced that Rosalind Brewer will replace Stefano Pessina as CEO, effective March 15. As previously announced, Pessina will take the role of executive chairman of the board, replacing James Skinner.
Brewer arrives from Starbucks, where she was chief operating officer for three years, and will also join the Walgreens board, according to a company press release.
Before Starbucks, she was president and CEO of Walmart s membership-based warehouse retailer, Sam s Club, after her arrival at Walmart in 2006.

Pessina arrived to take the reins at Walgreens about six years ago, after the company merged with U.K. drugstore Boots. ....

The hostile environment could block undocumented migrants from accessing Covid vaccine

CAMPAIGNERS are calling for a vaccination programme “that works for everyone” amid fears that immigration policies are preventing undocumented migrants from accessing the life-saving jab. 
Healthcare professionals have repeatedly called on the government to suspend NHS charges and immigration checks, claiming that the measures are “dangerous” and undermine efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19. 
Now migrant rights groups have raised concerns that these policies could prevent vulnerable communities from being able to access the vaccine.
In a letter to the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) called for the charges to be suspended, and for a “comprehensive firewall” to be set up between healthcare and the Home Office during the pandemic. ....

RICHMOND, Va. - 
Consignment-to-retail used-vehicle marketplace CarLotz nominated four individuals to its board of directors, with the company’s chief executive officer and co-founder Michael Bor describing them as “pioneers in their industries.”
CarLotz recently announced it would become a public company via a merger with special purpose acquisition company Acamar Partners Acquisition Corp. The company said it nominated Linda Abraham, Sarah Kauss, Kimberly Sheehy and James Skinner to its board of directors effective at the closing of the business combination transaction.
Abraham is currently managing director of Crimson Capital. She invests in and advises early stage technology companies. CarLotz said the CarLotz board will benefit from her strong strategy and growth experience. ....
