A British man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years in Florida for attempting to smuggle industrial equipment to Iran against a US embargo.
Colin Fisher, 45, pleaded guilty at Pensacola federal court in September to violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and to attempted smuggling in relation to exporting power generating equipment to Iran, according to court documents.
Prosecutors said Fisher was arrested by federal agents in August when he arrived in Pensacola from the United Arab Emirates to finish the deal to ship out a 500,000 dollar (£368,000) turbine core engine that could have been used to provide energy to Iran’s oil fields. ....

A UK citizen has been sentenced to two and a half years in US federal prison after attempting to smuggle about £368,000 worth of industrial equipment from America to Iran.
Colin Fisher, 45, who was sentenced in Pensacola federal court, Florida, was also convicted of breaking an embargo.
Fisher pleaded guilty in September to violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and to attempted smuggling in relation to exporting power generating equipment to Iran, according to court records.
“The Iranian embargo is directly related to the national security of the United States, and by attempting to evade that embargo Fisher and his fellow conspirators placed this nation directly at risk,” US Attorney for the northern district of Florida, Lawrence Keefe, said in a statement.  ....

A citizen of the United Kingdom that was arrested at the Pensacola airport has been sentenced for a plan to smuggle a turbine motor to Iran.
Colin Fisher, a citizen of the United Kingdom, was sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison on charges related to his attempt to export power generating equipment to Iran. He was also fined $5,000.
Fisher was arrested by federal agents earlier this year when he arrived at the Pensacola airport from the United Arab Emirates in order to complete the illegal transaction and obtain equipment for a buyer in Iran.
Fisher pled guilty in September to violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (“IEEPA”) and attempted smuggling. Between 2017 and the time of his arrest in August, Fisher, 45, worked to violate the Iranian embargo by attempting to export a Solar Mars 90 S turbine core engine and parts from the United States for delivery to an end user in Iran. A U.K. citizen has been sentenced in Florida to two years and six months in federal prison for attempting to smuggle industrial equipment to Iran.
Colin Fisher, 45, was arrested in August when he arrived in Florida from the United Arab Emirates to obtain power-generating equipment for a buyer in Iran, a statement from the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida said.
Fisher, who was also fined $5,000, pleaded guilty in September to violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which bans the export of such equipment to Iran.
