NNCS high school, middle schoolers move to remote learning

NORWOOD Norwood-Norfolk Central School middle and high school students are moving to remote learning today and Wednesday, but elementary students will continue to attend in-person.
“At this time, due to the number of students and staff impacted by contact tracing, as well as working out of an abundance of caution, our middle and high schools will pivot to remote learning,” said Superintendent James Cruikshank in an announcement to parent.
“We look forward to bringing our students back for in-person learning on Jan. 21,” he said.
“We are not witnessing this increase among our elementary students, therefore our elementary will remain in-person,” he said. ....

Norwood-Norfolk looking at return to hybrid classes Thursday, Jan. 7

NORWOOD Norwood-Norfolk Central Superintendent James Cruikshank anticipates returning to hybrid online/in person classes starting Thursday, Jan. 7.
In a letter to parents and the community, he said they will hold classes remotely Monday, Jan. 4 to Wednesday, Jan. 6.
“We realize that this continuance of remote learning is disruptive, but we have little choice. The number of reported contacts among the faculty, staff, and community is large. By remaining remote we hope to influence and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” Cruikshank wrote.
He said the district is encouraging everyone to follow COVID-19 protocols.
If anyone or their child has symptoms, they should be tested for COVID-19 right away. ....
