Fort Collins Election Results: Hughes Initiative Passes, Jeni Arndt Wins Mayor Seat

Yes (68.61%)
No (31.39%)
This means the measure passed. The city must now zone the land just east of Horsetooth Reservoir as 100% open space and attempt to purchase it from its current owner, Colorado State University. The outcome is a win for local residents who have fought to preserve the land for years. CSU has stated it still hopes to sell the land to a home developer.

This means the measure passed. Starting in May 2022, disposable plastic bags will be banned at large supermarkets in Fort Collins. Paper bags will also carry a new, 12-cent fee. The measure is designed to encourage shoppers to bring reusable bags to the store and reduce plastic waste. ....

Fort Collins Elects New Mayor, Bans Plastic Bags

The Fort Collins City Clerk office released the unofficial results from the April 6 election.
Jenni James Arndt won the mayor position, a citywide plastic bag ban won support and the vote determined the old Hughes Stadium site should remain parks and open space.
Official results will be posted on April 16.
Large grocers will soon be prohibited from providing disposable plastic bags after the initiative passed with 58.98% of the vote. Disposable paper bags will still be allowed for a 12-cent fee.
What to do with the former Hughes Stadium site had also been up for debate. The ordinance to keep the land open space and parks passed with 68.61% of the vote. Other proposals had wanted to develop the space into more housing and commercial businesses. ....

The POD set up at Camelback High School offered Moderna vaccines, and officials had a goal of vaccinating 700 people.
PHOENIX - On April 1, Camelback High School in Phoenix was transformed into a COVID-19 vaccination site, as the school worked with the Phoenix Union High School District to distribute the Moderna vaccine.
The site had a goal on Thursday to vaccinate 700 educators and childcare providers. Initially, school officials say they were just providing second doses of the Moderna vaccine, but they ended up being able to give some first doses as well. ....

annapolis tonight. reporter: hey, this all happened around noon. the search has been underway for about 10 hours now. it happened at the courthouse which is just a couple blocks away from where i m standing. the man broke free and then he ran this way towards this neighborhood. this is where a police officer spotted him and then he ran right here into this group of houses behind me. they have been going house to house searching every house tonight, but still they have not been able to find the suspect. this is the man authorities are looking for. his name? bonrick barksdale arrested recently for violent crimes he s accused of in north carolina. they are charging him with first degree rape, sex offense, robbery and other charges. reporter: police say barksdale was on his way to a court hearing today when he was able to overpower an officer and force her to let him out. he ran to this nearby neighborhood where he was spotted by another officer. we did do a house t ....
