Egg farmers' association raps agri ministers over 'promises not kept'

President of the Jamaica Egg Farmers' Association, Mark Campbell, is again appealing to the Government to remove General Consumption Tax (GCT) on table eggs to cushion the impact of rising production costs on struggling local egg farmers.

Agriculture minister bats for removal of GCT on eggs

While citing the need for more persons to consume eggs locally, Agriculture Minister, Floyd Green, is advocating for the removal of the General Consumption Tax (GCT) on the popular food item.
If we’re saying it’s (eggs) such a good protein; if we’re saying we’re now looking how we can feed ourselves; then we have to reduce that cost so that working people can be able to afford (eggs), stressed Green.
He was speaking during the Jamaica Egg Farmers’ Association s annual general meeting at Hibiscus Lodge in Ocho Rios, St Ann last week. ....
