A favorite at the Brooklyn Folk Festival and the Steel Guitar UnConvention, Kashiah Hunter plays lap and pedal steel guitar in the Sacred Steel gospel tradition. Sacred Steel is a musical style and African-American gospel tradition that developed in a group of related Pentecostal churches in the 1930s. Aaron Frazer is a budding soul sensation


For soul musician Aaron Frazer, inspiration for a song can come from just about anywhere, including a trip to the DMV.
“I was in the DMV in Sacramento because that’s where my lady’s dad is. We accompanied him to the DMV one morning, and I was like, ‘Ah man. It would be cool to not go to the DMV if we don’t have to,’” Frazer says. “But at the commercial vehicles desk, there was a sign that had a union slogan from the ‘50s that said, ‘If you got it, a truck brought it.’ I was like, ‘Man, that’s snappy.’ Sometimes you just see something out in the world, and you’re like, ‘That’s a hot line.’ So I personalized it to, ‘If I got it, your love brought it.’” ....
