Social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions have created a unique set of obstacles for college students to overcome in order to meet that special someone. âRight before the pandemic started, I had just gotten ready to start seriously trying to date, and then it just, my plans just went through the roof,â said Jakob Janoski, a junior journalism major, and the âMatt Jamesâ of the Bachelor-inspired DA Date Show. On the show, which aired on the DAâs Facebook on Valentineâs Day, Janoski asked the three contestants various questions about their likes, dislikes and hobbies, as well as questions about dating. In the end, Janoski invited contestant two, Sarah Ashton Hollen, to accompany him on a date at Bourbon Prime inside the Morgantown Marriott. ....
 Despite reaching more than 3,000 signatures, a petition crafted by junior journalism student Jakob Janoski in hopes of reopening the Rec Center for student use has yet to result in any change from WVU. The petition was released last month on change.org and caught the attention of the WVU administration. However, despite the petition s recognition, there has been little progress overall. According to Janoski, there was no new information given out during the Campus Conversation last month. âThey held firm that the Student Rec Center will be staying closed, Janoski said. I do believe that this petition has politely put the University into a position in which they have to respond to the people who signed the petition, which is a good thing.â ....
This may only be my second semester on campus, but I can tell when the University makes new rules or fails to change policies that don t sit well with students, especially for those either living on campus or in the Morgantown area. The Student Rec Center seen on November 18, 2020. It s been decided that until further notice the Student Rec Center will be closed and all activities and events have been canceled until April 12. However, many students, including myself, believe that this facility should ve been reopened. If students are denied access to this resource on campus, they should be refunded the entire portion that goes towards running the facility. ....
