Recent University of Pennsylvania graduate Anna Kalandadze collected her first two Trials cuts in the 800 freestyle (8:43.20) and 1500 free (16:43.36).
The Main Line produced a fine number of outstanding swimmers this past winter. At Conestoga, senior Jake Wang, who was named the Boys Swimmer of the Meet at the PIAA 3A Swimming and Diving Championships for the second year in a row, led the Pioneer boys team to a best-ever second-place finish. Lower Merion, led by senior Alexa Conner, who finished second in two individual events at States, finished ninth in the PIAA 3A girls team competition
During his four-year swimming career at Conestoga High School, Jake Wang, the Daily Local News 2023-24 Boys Swimmer of the Year, has established a legacy that’s golden – as in nine gold medals earned at the PIAA 3A state championships.
The senior ended his Conestoga High School swimming career on a high note, being named the PIAA 3A Boys Swimmer of the Meet for the second year in a row, while the Conestoga boys team finished a best-ever second place in the PIAA 3A boys team competition. Wang won the 200 yard IM (PR 1:44.20) and 100 breaststroke (PR 52.36) and was the leadoff swimmer for the Pioneers’ first-place 400 free relay and 200 free relay teams.
Main Line swimmers sparkled at the PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships March 13-16 at Bucknell University, particularly those from Conestoga High School.
